Britney and transference
I got this from some bloggers blog in the bowels of the blogosphere.

I don't really get it. Obviously Britney is going through a "time of stress". In the olden days they would say she is having a "nervous breakdown" and she would go to a sanatorium to get it together.
Of course all of us have had a "nervous breakdown" at some time. We have all suffered from stress and may have even had "stress leave" from work. Like when one has a divorce or a relationship breakdown or something really bad happens in your life. Then one has a "breakdown".
"Crazy" is a strong reaction.
Some people are put on a pedestal like the Britney's of the world. We imbue them with a strength or abilities that they do not have. In psychological terms we call that transference. We make them the perfect person in our own mind because that is what we hope for, it is what we want. We are always looking for that perfect person because if we form a relationship with them then we can use them to finally resolve all our personal problems.
Perhaps when they have their own breakdown then we have an extra strong reaction because our intimate hopes are dashed.

Hi Tony,
Thanks for the piccy of Britney. It's almost as good as "the girl in the middle", don't you think, even though I don't really think Britney's proper crazy. Besides I quite like that bit of daring in her eyes. I wonder if it's saying, I wanna sing my own song for awhile now, even if she's not a deep rolling stone, but bless and protect her anyway.
Yeh I read the story about Keef, so guess there may have been a little synchronicity going on. Fancy doing that with your old man's ashes. Well, I suppose keith's always been my fave Rolling stone, and subject to my idealised transference, although he's not a bit like my real Dad. He is a lot cooler than Mick though, I think most people would agree, not least coz he doesn't prance about the stage like a deranged chicken. Sorry Mick xx
Yeh Tony, Keith was one of the lucky ones who survived all those nasty drugs. Not only was he born with great ears, but the constitution of a dinasaur, and even looks a little like one these days. I suppose back in the 1960s we were all still learning about drugs, which was exciting, but kind of think we should've learned all the lessons by now. Interesting question though, whether drugs not only enhances sports performance, but artistic performance ( especially music) as well????
Don't suppose Tiger does drugs like Keith, and he seems to be doing ok.
Have a good Easter.
Nick.

Like you Nick I have always liked the "Stones". Initailly I liked them more than the beatles (or the good boys), but some of the beatles music is just so good.
Maybe Keef is cooler than Mick. Mick has sold out to the establishment with his knighthood and all, so that is uncool. Keef says he wont sell out but maybe its easy for Keef to say that as the establishment wouldn't have him anyway.
But the fact that they probably wouldn't have him means he has not sold out I suppose.
I think what Britney is doing is good. She is a rock star so she is meant to do that. But these days everything is so 'canned', everything is a product, even creativity. I am just hanging out for that to change when the youth yet again say, "No we don't accept this". I think Britney has done that a bit.

I know just how she feels having people take their own issues and paint them all over her. I think maybe this happens to people more often when they live their lives in some public way. It's sad, really. It's the kind of thing that can cause lonliness.

Yes Lynn,
I think you put it a good way,
paint their issues over them
"Paint" is a good metaphor.
It does seem that the more one stands out in public the more it is going to happen to them. That is just a fact of life.
Hope all is going well for you and the wasteland is where it needs to be
